SharePoint Installation Process Part 3

Configuring SharePoint 2010
Continuing from where we left last..
  1. You can select the “Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard now” from Run Configuration Wizard as per the screenshot shown in previous post.OR
  2. Click Start –> Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products –> right click on SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizardand Run as administratorImage 28_thumb[2]
  3. The SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard will appear –> click NextImage 29_thumb[2]
  4. Wizard will restart the services as shown in the screenshot –> click YesImage 30_thumb[2]
  5. You will now get the below two options. Since this is the first SharePoint installation, I will select Create a new server farm –> click NextImage 31_thumb[2]
  6. The next screen is looking for Database settings. Enter the SQL database server name/ database name and a domain account who has access to the SQL Server as per our configuration earlier. Click NextImage 32_thumb[2]
  7. Next screen asks for the Passphrase. It is used to secure configuration data for automatic password management as well as provide more control over who can join a server to a farm. Not only must a user have the necessary permissions to join a farm, they must also know the passphrase. Click NextImage 33_thumb[2]
  8. Here you can configure Central Administration application. I choose a specify a port as it would be easier for me to remember. Keep the authentication to NTLM as setting it to Kerberos won’t make much sense for Central Admin site. ClickNextImage 34_thumb[2]
  9. Next screen gives you a change to review the settings, click NextImage 35_thumb[2]
  10. The installation process will beginImage 36_thumb[2]
  11. Finally success –> click FinishImage 37
  12. Once configuration is done, you will get the Farm Configuration WizardImage 38
  13. I will click No, under Customer Experience Improvement
  14. I will click Cancel under Configure your SharePoint farm wizard.
